Fun at the Advanced RV Open House!

James and I have decided that if we could quit our jobs and do anything else, we’d like to join the team over at Advanced RV. James could spend his days building their cabinets and I could lead their lunchtime workouts. Because, yeah, they actually bring in fitness instructors and offer yoga and boot camp classes for employees during their HOUR AND A HALF lunch break. The Advanced RV team is like one little happy family, and it’s all because of Mike and Marcia Neundorfer, the founders of the company. They believe that their employees should love coming to work every day, so they’ve created this incredibly positive working environment where the employees take ownership in their work, and enjoy being part of the Advanced RV family. It was pretty cool to see.

We just spent the weekend with the Advanced RV family at their 1st annual Open House extravaganza at their headquarters in Willoughby, Ohio. If you aren’t familiar with Advanced RV, they are a newish Class B manufacturer (been around for a couple years now), building exclusively off the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform.

Advanced RVs are a techno nerd’s dream. Tons of solar panels, a SilverLeaf high-tech monitoring system, lithium-ion batteries, VB air suspension, heated floors, and anything else you can imagine can be built into one of their RVs. Each RV is completely customized for the buyer, and they are willing to do anything you ask (as long as it’s possible). Want to add a dog kennel to your RV? No problem. Want a dry shower? Sure! This is why we’ve had our eye on this company. You all know how James is CONSTANTLY talking about how he wants a raised rear bed like the RVs we saw in Italy so we have under-the-bed bike storage. If any company can make this happen for us, Advanced RV can.  James went nuts and we have about two hours of video that he will be turning into a video review of their Ocean One model in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned for that!

But we weren’t just attending the AdvancedFest Open House, we also led morning workouts and even conducted a workshop session! We didn’t intend to make our session funny, but apparently, we have a “schtick.” Or at least that’s what one of our attendees called it later. We do get that a lot, especially from people who watch our YouTube videos, but the truth is, the banter between James and me is just how we interact. In our session, we covered “sitting disease,” and its impact on driving for long stretches. We have a two hour rule…have to stop every two hours, get a little exercise, and have some fun! The attendees were great sports as we made them get up and practice some rest-stop exercises they can do. We also talked about drowsy driving, signs you need to stop driving, and techniques you can use to get you safely to the next exit when the sleepies come on. The scary thing is, we don’t actually KNOW when we’re starting to fall asleep, and that’s how so many accidents occur. There are even exercises you can do right in your driver’s seat (pulled over, of course), and we shared those as well.

And the other sessions were packed with information for all you RV nerds out there. Living-off-the-grid options, solar, battery, inverters, heating & cooling technology, Hushmat, and Mercedes Benz even sent one of their Sprinter experts to give tips and share future plans for the Sprinter. And did I mention the food yet?!?!

Marcia and Mike Neundorfer were the most gracious hosts…the food was amazing, there was live music each night, s’mores around the campfire, and lots of new friendships were formed. If you didn’t attend, YOU MISSED OUT! Hopefully, you’ll join us for it next year!

We attended this weekend Open House as well and learned a ton of stuff about Class B RV’s and fitness. And yes, the food was wonderful too!
Put it on your calendar for next year.
