Hitch House Takes the Fit RV Challenge!

In the super long 2 year history of The Fit RV, I’m pretty sure this is one of the coolest most awesomest things we’ve done. James and I will be hosting our 1st ever RV fitness competition, Biggest Loser-style! And YOU, dear friends, get to follow along for the ride.

A while back, we were contacted by the folks at The Hitch House Motorhome Specialists, a very large and highly popular RV dealership located in Ontario. They wanted to start an employee fitness challenge, and invited us to join in the fun. Would we think about being involved, they asked? Uh, think about it? No thinking necessary; because HECK YA! We were so jazzed for the chance to make a change in the lives of these special people working in the RV industry. So, the competition ideas started flowing, and now here we are, smack dab in the middle of week 1 festivities.

How It Works:

After initial weigh-ins and weight loss goal setting, each contestant was placed on a team: Team Stef or Team James. James and I are doing all the fitness coaching for our respective teams, helping them set up exercise plans, doing nutrition counseling, and giving any specific advice they might need to reach their goals. Teams will face weekly fitness challenges that we give them, and will earn team points for coming out on top. For week 1, contestants were challenged with two things: squats and steps. Everyone is logging the number of squats they do each day, and also the number of steps they take each day. At the end of the week, teams will combine their scores and the team with the most squats gets a point, and the team with the most steps gets a point.

On top of the individual weekly challenges, there will be some upcoming team challenges, too! You’ll see these hearty Canadians getting childish, with snow tubing competitions and laser tag, as just a few sneak peeks!

This video shows how the competition is going now that we’ve officially kicked off and are in week 1 of the 12 week challenge. As you’ll see in the video, this is a highly competitive (and silly) group! They’ve embraced their fitness challenges with gusto, and are all in it to win it! We couldn’t be more pleased with how hard they’re working and how determined they are to create change in their lives.

Please Send Encouragement!

Now, on a serious note, we all know how hard weight loss can be. These folks have bravely stepped up and agreed to make their very personal weight loss journeys public. Please help cheer them on by leaving comments below or any weight loss encouragement you can.

And may the biggest loser win!

After 15 years as an educator in both the public K-12 setting and the University level in Special Physical Education, Stef made the leap to her true passion… the fitness world. She’s currently a personal trainer and wellness coach specializing in seniors, medical conditions, and injuries. Stef loves running, cycling, and being “Mugga” to her two favorite mini-humans — Punky and Marshmallow. ❤️

YAY to both teams for participating! I just started a similar program using my new Fitbit to count my steps and record my progress. We have a brand new Class B after owning a Class A. I need to be trim and in good condition to enjoy the smaller space which we share with 3 Dacshunds. I will be following for tips from both teams.

AWESOME! Love seeing the support for our contestants!
Apparently, the atmosphere at the dealership there is really focused on fitness now. From what I hear – nobody sits still anymore!
I can’t wait to see these guys when we get up there.

Hang in there, challengers! There will be a point when you don’t want to exercise, and don’t want to eat right, and you don’t see the results you want. Decide now to stick with it anyway. Success will come.

Fabulous Event! I will keep following to see which team will be the “Biggest Looser”?

Hint: Try to do 10,000 steps a day, to reach optimal results! Walking is FREE, and has many other benefits than just losing weight! Lol

Good luck 2 both teams! 😉
