There I am – Number 103, ready for the start
Hello Fit RVers! This past weekend, we took Das Bus down to Southern Utah for some R&R, some exercise in what we thought was going to be warmth, and for a bike race. We had a blast and I’m calling the weekend a success.
First off – as far as I can tell – NOTHING WENT WRONG IN THE RV! No leaks. No running out of anything. All systems normal. Of course, there are always rattles to chase, but other than that it was the kind of weekend that reminds you why you got an RV in the first place. We stayed at a nice quiet state park. And when we got back home, I got her quick-winterized again in record time.
The racing even went well. Traditionally, I’ve not done too well in this race, but that seems to be changing. I’ve been training hard and it’s paying off. I finished 5th in the Time Trial; with the bunch in the Criterium (so I lost no time); and about 16th in the road race. The road race has some significant hills in it, so 16th is a great result for me. For those of you who don’t know much about bike racing – or just don’t care – overall I finished 14th. Considering that last year I didn’t even finish, I’m very pleased.
The start of the road race was also very cold. 35 degrees cold. So you can see that we’re all bundled up for the start. But racing warms you up in a big hurry.
Overall, I can’t wait to do it again. Race. RV. All of it. Hope your weekend was just as much fun!
