Pacsafe: A Portable Safe for your RV

Here is another of our favorite products from the 2015 Outdoor Retailer show. This product from Pacsafe can give you a little bit more peace of mind when leaving valuables in your RV. Have a look as Patrick Cook from Pacsafe shows us the portable safe and you’ll see what I mean.

Now, when I remodeled Das Bus, I went to the trouble of installing a safe bolted down inside a cabinet. Not everyone has the ability to do that, and the Pacsafe portable safe is a good alternative. Your only task is finding a suitable point in your RV to anchor it to.  Once you’ve done that, it provides you with everything you need to thwart your typical smash-and-grab opportunist thieves.

We’ve actually got several pieces of Pacsafe luggage of our own.  We took them all over Europe last year.  They held up great and we felt pretty secure when leaving our luggage with taxi drivers porters, and hotel staff.  We can personally vouch for the quality of their products, and we were excited to see them at the Outdoor Retailer show.

Oh, and speaking of traveling – these portable safes do offer one advantage that my built-in RV safe does not, and it’s that they’re PORTABLE safes. They’re not limited to staying in the RV!  Don’t trust the housekeeping staff at the hotel?  This product has you covered.  Hanging out at the beach?  No problem.

It’s those kind of advantages that have me considering getting one for myself, even though we already have a safe in our RV.

      Hi James,

Just found your site and really like the information and how you guys present it.

One question on the safe, what if someone cuts the cable?

      Thanks

Well, on the PacSafe, if someone cut the cable, I suppose the contents would be available. The thinking is, it’s mostly to prevent crimes of opportunity, rather than someone with equipment and time to work. We don’t have one (still), but if we were to use one, it would be hidden away inside an inconvenient storage compartment. Not easy to find or to cut cables in.
