Fitness in Your RV – Resistance Band Workout

Missing your senior fitness classes while on the road? With my new RV workout video series, now you’ll be able to stay fit no matter where you are! This is the second video in the series. In the 1st video, you worked out with handweights. In this one, all you’ll need is a chair and a resistance band. Those of you familiar with SilverSneakers workouts will be right at home. I’m a former SilverSneakers instructor, and these exercises come right from my SilverSneakers classes. Follow along for a great full body workout that’ll leave you energized and ready for whatever adventures await.

Choosing Resistance Bands:

Bands come in various levels of intensities. James and I keep a full kit of various resistance bands in our RV, and if you don’t have yours yet, you can order them here. You want to make sure the band you choose for this workout is challenging enough that you’re actually stressing out your muscles, however, not so difficult that you’ll injure yourself.  Just like in the handweights workout, if this one feels easy, you didn’t use intense enough resistance bands. Even bodybuilders can do this video workout and get worked…it all depends on how intense of bands you choose, and that one’s up to you. So no telling me it’s too easy!

A great way to measure your workout intensity is using a scale of 1 to 10. Think of  “1” on the scale as the same level of intensity as lying on the couch, and “10” is like lifting a baby grand piano. You should try to work at about a 6 or 7 level of difficulty on this workout. You want to feel uncomfortable, but not in pain. Using bands makes it easier to adjust your intensity. If you’re rolling along with the video and you realize your current exercise feels easy, the bands can be easily “choked up” on (I demonstrate this in the video), which increases the intensity and gets you working at a more appropriate level.

Love These Guys:

Big thanks to Camping World RV Sales in Salt Lake City and their awesome manager Mike Andrus for lending us their Jayco Eagle 5th Wheel for filming! We had a great experience with them, and highly recommend you stop by and check them out!

And Remember:

Friends, the stronger you are the better you feel. Your RV adventures will be much, much better in a fit body. See you on the road, gang!

      Hi Stefany,
This is the first time I have had a chance to skim through your website. It’s great! I just ordered my Basic Tension bands and am having them shipped to my mother’s house in Virginia. It is time for me to get back in shape; I am sure I will feel both physically and mentally stronger. I return the end of January. As I stated before, I hope Gary will continue with your work-out program and really put forth the effort his last two sessions with you. Thanks for all the wonderful advice and great workouts. Denise
