Meet the Campfire Defender – Portable Campfire Management and Safety

OK.  How many times have you started a campfire not realizing it was already 10:00 at night, and then later dreaded having to wait it out or put it out so you could go to bed?  If you’re like me, the answer is “pretty much every time I’ve ever started a campfire.”  Well, while cruising the 2017 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, we found a product that can change all that AND maybe even keep your fire going for you until the next morning.  Meet the Campfire Defender!

If you look at a picture and think it’s just a blanket, you’d be way wrong.  First off, it’s made of material that’s more fire resistant than a fireman’s Nomex suit.  It’s covered in silicone, so it will keep your fire dry in case of rain.  It comes with grommets, stakes, and reflective striping to keep the cover in place and keep people off of the cover.  And it’s vented to either keep the fire warm, or smother the fire out.  The venting aspect is pretty cool (hot?), as it means you could set it up so that you could wake up to hot coals and a fire in minutes.

The Campfire Defender comes in two size kits.  The larger one is perfect for RV use.  The smaller one is better suited to backpackers.  The video pretty much explains the rest, but what it doesn’t explain is the deal we worked out for you.

For a limited time (and I don’t know how long this will last), the folks at Campfire Defender are offering a pretty substantial discount to our readers.  To get this discount simply go to their website,  https://campfiredefender.com/ and when you check out, use this discount code:

FITRV

That will knock a pretty big chunk off of the price (25% the last time I looked).  So that makes the larger Campfire Defender, which normally sells for $249.95 just $187.  These aren’t cheap, but then neither is burning down the campground…

And if you’re reading this later on and the discount code has expired, you can always buy the Campfire Defender on Amazon.com as well.

See you around the campfire!

Thanks for the discount code! Still works as of today. Looking forward to trying out the product. I hate that wet campfire smell, and i hope this makes starting it up in the morning quicker.

The blanket might survive the heat of the engine compartment, but it also might get caught up in the belts or other moving parts in there. It doesn’t sound like a good idea.

Seems kind of neat, especially with limited water in a boondocking situation. One question I have is the potential smoke smell it will likely pick up. I don’t think I will have any outdoor storage on my RV and I’m not sure I would keep it inside if it smells. But since it’s fire proof, I might just roll it up and find a place in the engine compartment.

      Any thoughts?

Don’t know what kind of smoke smell it might pick up. I would imagine some, but these are non-standard fabrics we’re talking about, so I don’t know.
