The Turkish Get Up Workout

While we were stuck in Medford, Oregon for what seemed like about 17 years waiting for our RV to get fixed, we decided to make this video. We’ve written about Turkish Get Ups previously, but we decided to break the Get Up into phases and make it into a unique full body workout.  This workout is all about functional fitness – training your body to do the things you need to do each day.  Functional training is especially important as we age.  Anyone who sits a lot…travelers, desk workers, etc. will also greatly benefit from functional fitness training. Check out the video and give it a try! You’ll be surprised how challenging it actually is.

Beginners, you might want to use a chair as an assist to get you from the kneel to stand phase. Advanced, add a water bottle or handweight in one hand, and hold it to the ceiling through the entire workout (as shown in the Turkish Get Ups article).
