Calling All Cyclists Who RV! Join Our Online Community!

So, y’all know that James and I are cycling enthusiasts. In fact it was riding that brought us into the RV community in the first place. So it probably doesn’t surprise you that we’ve long dreamed about building a strong community of RVing cyclists. You cyclists, you know how easily you bond with fellow cyclists? Well add in your second love, which for us is RVs, and it’s a double bond! It pretty much looks like this:

Besides connecting with ‘our people’, we see this community as something very much needed. After all, there’s a whole different set of challenges (and opportunities!) when you add RVing to cycling. We deal with transporting bikes, finding rides in unknown territory, bike safety when traveling, that sort of thing. So having a community of fellow RVing cyclists will be a place to get tips, support, and even hopefully meetups on the regular!

How To Connect With Our “Cyclists Who RV” Online Community:

If you’re a cyclist who RVs, come join your people over on our Facebook group, “Cyclists Who RV”. I know, many of you are anti-Facebook, and we get it. Until the next best thing shows up, it really is the most convenient place to pull people together. So we hope even if you don’t like FB, you’ll consider joining anyways. Use a nickname, don’t take on any friends, completely bypass going to your own “page” and solely use it for our Cyclists Who RV group. If you’re an RVing cyclist, you’re one of our people (refer to the above formula) and we want you there!!!

The group has already started growing, and it’s been great seeing people sharing ride and trip pictures. So, you’ve been missing out. We’re waiting for you so hurry it up.

Oh and hey it’s a “private” group so you have to request to join. We’re being quite protective of who gets in… legit people, no spammers…so we even have a couple questions you have to answer before we let you in. Look for the questions after you request!

See you there!

xo,

Nice! I also have a post here on Fit RV website listing all the multi-day RV-friendly cycling events around the US, you’ll have to look for that, too!

We’re RVers who cycle. Started 10-15 yrs ago as a way to exercise out in the great outdoors. So much better than being cooped up indoors. We are rail trail riders which combines our interest in the history of the old railroads of New England and keeping fit. Got side tracked this year as I prep for knee replacement but looking forward to getting back out there again

Life indeed has a way of sidetracking us sometimes. Glad to hear you’re planning on getting back out there! We’d like to do more rail trails… first need some gravel bikes!!! (n+1) 😉

We are also RVers who cycle. We do not tow a vehicle and are looking for communities that fit well with that lifestyle. We have stayed at Caladesi RV Park on the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail in Florida. We can used our bikes to get groceries, go the the Salvadore Dali museum in St. Pete, visit the Greek community of Tarpon Springs, visit micro-breweries, etc. We are looking for similar communities in other areas of the country. Are you aware of any areas like that in the New England area? Thanks.

Since my wife can no longer cycle due to health issues, I’m in kind of a cycling funk. I’m not much a FB fan but hopefully this may re-motivate me.

Sorry to hear about your wife. I can certainly understand how hard it must be to enjoy cycling if your partner isn’t able to join you! Hopefully the group can give you some renewed inspiration and get you back on track. Sending good vibes for your wife! xo

How about “RVers who want to start cycling”, can we join the FB group? 🙂 I’ve been working on losing weight, getting fit in the last 6 months, and getting back into some kind of cycling in my life at home and when out RVing is one of my big goals… would love to be inspired by other cycling RVers.

Chris, that’s AWESOME! I hope you do come join! One of my tips for my new trainees is to surround yourself in the fit community… it’s such a powerful motivation booster. On top of it being a great place for tips and support, here’s hoping the Cyclists Who RV group will have that same motivation-boosting effect too! xo
